If you have been down to The Cape's community garden recently, you will have seen that our garden beds are bursting with organic tomatoes. With hundreds of kilograms already harvested over the past month and more still to come, we have decided it’s time to do some passata making! Come along to The Cape's display home to help (or watch) the big passata cookup. WHEN: Sunday 11th March, between 10AM and 4PM WHERE: The Cape – Periwinkle Place, Cape Paterson What is Passata? Passata is a well flavoured tomato sauce that is generally superior to standard canned tomatoes and it is an excellent base for pastas and pizza. We intend to make over 100 large bottles of passata, much of which will be donated to the local community. Who is our chef? The wonderful Mara Ripani is a sustainability practitioner, cook, food preserver extraordinaire and gardening enthusiast who, alongside her partner Ralf, have built a beautiful sustainable home and garden on 5 hectares near Daylesford. We’ll also be launching two new super sustainable homes in the estate, Core 9, designed by Beaumont Concepts and built by TS Constructions, and Dune 1 by Adapt Design Group. Independent modelling shows that both homes are set to eliminate energy bills altogether, and are forecast to be generating a cash rebate between $90 and $400 per annum for their owners. Our passata day provides a great opportunity to chat with the builders and designers behind both these homes, as well as tour Victoria’s first 10 Star home. There will be refreshments available in the various homes, the community garden will be open to visit, and you will have the chance to meet with some of the Cape residents. The builders & designers who we have partnered with for The Cape and who will be onsite on Sunday 11th March include: We are also excited to have Stage 2 construction officially underway at The Cape, with completion expected in July and titled lots available soon afterwards. Stage 2 features superior ocean views, and is already over 40% sold. The Cape fronts one of the most stunning beaches in the region and has dedicated 50% of its land to open space, offering kilometres of walking and cycling paths, fitness stations and large wetlands. If you are unable to make it to on Sunday 11th March, you can still come and find us at 4 Periwinkle Place, Cape Paterson every weekend between 12 noon and 4 PM for tours of the homes as well as the community garden. Alternatively, the 10 Star Home is open Monday to Friday 8AM – 4PM
