HEALTHCARE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
Current and future residents of The Cape have available to them numerous healthcare providers. The Wonthaggi Hospital will be further advanced once the $115 million upgrade is completed in 2023, which will see the redevelopment of the hospital's emergency department, construction of a new operating theatre, refurbishment of two existing theatres and upgrade of several current inpatient rooms to meet the demands of the growing local community. The upgrade will also reduce the need to transfer critical patients to other hospitals. Additionally, each type of emergency service are based in Wonthaggi, alongside several other emergency services in surrounding townships.
SUPERMARKETS
Cape Paterson is in close proximity to a range of large supermarket stores. Wonthaggi has 4 major supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths, ALDI and IGA) which provides an abundance of options for where you can source your groceries weekly, and Inverloch also has a Foodworks Supermarket.

RETAIL
The Bass Coast region is home to a large range of retail stores, with Wonthaggi being the main shopping precinct for the area, containing a great mix of major retailers in the newly constructed Wonthaggi Plaza. Surrounding townships offer a fantastic choice of stores for you to find those special one-off pieces, from souvenirs and boutiques, to fashion and retail stores. The area is continuing to expand, and this is evident by the number of stores which continue to open up in each town.
